This scat mat is cheap and effective
I have a head strong American Bombay that loves to chew on wires, and a lab that thinks she has an inalienable right to sleep on my furniture. After hundreds of dollars in damaged wires and hours of cleaning stinky chairs, I finally gave up scolding them and decided to give these mats a try. My first impression of them are that they seem flimsy and cheap, so I doubt they would last long outdoors. Keep in mind they are plastic, not vinyl, so the material is fairly stiff. The spikes are uncomfortable, but I don't think they would be penetrative unless you hit them suddenly with a lot of force (like slapping hard with a hand), and I don't see a cat or dog managing that, although you definitely want to show your pet the location of the mats so they don't get surprised.I found I could roll the mats into a tube, and with the spikes from below inserted into the hollow of the spikes on top, it holds together well without tape. This was pretty convenient for placing behind furniture. After placing the mats, the results were immediate. My cat stopped getting behind my entertainment center to chew on wires, and my dog has learned to stay off the chairs and couch. I sometimes also use the mats as an "area of denial" when I want to keep animals away from tables that they could bump and cause items to fall over. If you cut out a hole in the center, you could easily use them around pots to keep pets from chewing on your plants. These mats may not seem very durable, but they get the job done, and if you use them indoors, I don't think you'll have issues with them falling apart. If you need something for the outdoors, you may want to get scat mats made of vinyl.

Def effective
These are great!! Our cat had a UTI and unfortunately stopped using her litter box for a while. I noticed she kept trying to go back to the same spot so I put these down, she def wouldn’t step on them!!! Def works to keep at least a cat away from areas that you want to avoid

Give it a valid try!
Works! My cat was jumping on the counter to the top of the fridge and then the cabinets. I put them on the counter and the top of the fridge. He jumped up once to the counter then tried to get on top of the fridge and was immediately stopped after that. I have since been able to remove the counter spikes and just placed those on the top of the cabinets to deter his wanting to be up there. No more issues!

Super light, flimsy plastic
It's literally the type of thing that will blow in the wind, so I'm not exactly thrilled about that. I feel like my cat is able to just scoot it over lol. It's too light. I honestly dont think it will be that durable over time. we'll see. I got it to keep my cat from bangin on my door in the middle of the night.I couldnt figure out how to attach them together so i just used ductape on the bottom. Very easy to cut and size to what you want. I just set it up like 20 minutes ago so I'm hoping this will deter my kitty. I'm keeping it at 3 stars for now. Idk, we'll see.

Decent deterrent for some cats (not all), cheap for area covered
Works really well for some cats while others are simply annoyed as they gingerly walk across it. My wife was concerned about the crazy death spikes, but it's not bad. And like I said, one cat walked across it anyway. But it did help with the other 2. The fact that there's several sheets per package was also really helpful for covering a larger area cheaply since cats will often simply jump over or around an obstacle. Not as effective as the electric shock mats, but far cheaper and more coverage.
