Been a fan since the Beginning
I have loved "Days of our Lives" since the beginning of the show. I tried to watch everyday and if I did miss a show... I couldn't wait to find out what happened. I am 76 soon to be 77 years old. Days of our Lives has been part of my for a long time. I already have most of the books and looked forward to getting the history of Days of our Lives. I enjoyed reading about a part of my family in Salem. Great Book!

Well Researched
This is a well written and researched book on the off and on stage Days of Our Lives. It was published in 1995, and only goes to that point. A good chunk of the book is references. There is various character lists of the actors and roles they played with the years they were on.An update is much desired with more photos and a better genealogy that encompasses all characters. When I first started to watch in 2010, Maggie had a relative named Nathan. I would love to see how he relates to the Horton clan as well as others like Nick Fallon. The pics are all black and white and from personal collections such as Bill Hayes, one of the actors generous in their interviews.

Entertaining as Well as Helpful
I watched "Days of Our Lives" at age 6 with my Grandmother: I was hooked. I watched it when I was home sick and of course every summer all the way through college. When VCR's finally came into existance I could finally get my daily fix. Then life got too busy and I'd skip through the episodes or sometimes just give up and record over them. Of course I missed a lot of continuity during both the early and mid-life "hit and miss" years , and this book does a remarkable job of filling in the blanks. It is well written, in a very entertaining manner, so you never get as bored as if you were just reading summaries or time-lines. Now I need someone to write a book beginning where this one leaves off.

Days of Our Lives History
I loved this book. I have been a fan of DOOL since I graduated from college in 1969, so I remember the early years. What I loved about this book was reading about the few years before I started watching, then reminiscing about all the years I did watch. Most of the behind-the-scenes information was interesting, too, but it was the story-line that I loved.I was disappointed that the book only goes to about 1995. I hope the author will update it to the present or someone will write a new book on the recent years.I saw one omission. My friend Walter Willison, who played Suzanne Zenor's doctor and potential love interest until Wesley Eure left, breaking up the triangle, was not included in the cast list.

An EXHAUSTIVE catalog of the show!
My room mate is going to go nuts for this book! She is a longtime fan and will be thrilled with this. Pages and PAGES of story plot, who was having babies with who, included are family trees!

Little or no information of interest
I really want a refund for this book. It stopped at a point before I even started watching the show. In fact, it only seems to be only one chapter long. It was not six chapters at all. Maybe my book is a mistake? It ends somewhere with Sami trying to win Austin at a point in time, in which I don't recall even watching. I watched Sami trying to win Austin, but this did not ring a bell at all. I does not explain how Stefano exchanged Roman with John (if that was what happened). It says someone is trying to kill John by stepping on his fingers while he is hanging off a cliff, because they think John is Stefano. Then it is shown that John is Roman, but does not explain how John is Roman. It is filled with stuff about characters I never heard of such as Shane. This book is only worth about 99 cents or even free for the lack of information and the vague writing style. If you are younger then 40, this book will have no meaning at all for you, and only confuse you further.

Not an accurate or well written history of Days
I rate this as good but not a complete history by any means. This was said to be the most accurate and thorough history of the show up to 1994. It is interesting to read backstage stories from the actors and producers, and it is handy to have a summary of 29 years of the plots, but this is as far as it goes. I really hoped for a more encyclopedic work. The free flowing narrative of the stories should have had headings, broken down into major storylines. It's just not a reference book you can flip through. It's a rather slim paperback. I'm not asking for a picture book or I would have ordered one of those. But photos of some of the main characters would have been helpful. I am still hoping for a definitive work.Update: I have to lower my rating to 2 stars after coming across inaccuracies and realizing how slapdash this book really is. The material is presented as a chronological history of the show, and it's written like a narrative, yet the breezy summaries of various storylines are sometimes told out of order. This is annoying for long time viewers who actually know the dates of some of these events. For one thing, it would not have cost anything to put the dates of each storyline in the margins or the headings. Maybe then the writer would have realized she put something in the wrong place. Please, no snide comments about how this is good for what it is. I already said that. It's fine for someone who wants to read a very brief, bare bones summary of the show. It's not encyclopedic and it leaves out a lot of details. I wonder if anyone will ever compile a real history of the show. I chose this one carefully and was still let down. As far as I can tell, there is no such book yet. For fans who want to revisit old storylines, your best bet is to read the Soap Opera Digest summaries online. It's not on their site. You'll have to search. Although they still have a few errors (probably because they go by the script which sometimes changed before it went to press), they include all the details. For example: on the island after the plane crash, Nurse Honeycutt tries to kill Hope with insulin. Calliope notices the label on the bottle and stops her. This is in the digest summary, and it it completely left out of this history of Days. As Nurse Honeycutt is one of the most amoral villains ever on the show, it's an egregious omission from the book. This is just one small example of how the author leaves out important details.I just do not get the rave reviews I read elsewhere, and I can't remember where - some soap opera forum said this was more accurate than the other books on the market. It's certainly not. It's dry and spartan and stingy with plot details. The storylines which are amazing when you watch them just do not transfer to the printed page when told in such an offhand manner. The only really useful thing in the book is the interviews the author had with some of the actors. But that could have been a magazine article. I tell you, any long term Days fan would have written a better, more accurate, more readable book than this and I now question the author's motive, or whether she just got exhausted and published it before it was finished. You will probably be disappointed if you buy this, so this is just a warning that the book is incomplete.
