## Description

The Urban Shelf is the original, American-made solution for anyone struggling with limited bedside space. Designed and manufactured in Pennsylvania, this folding shelf solves the daily frustration of losing your phone or glasses in the bed. Its rigid base is specifically designed to work best with standard mattresses and slat beds, using the weight of the mattress to create a stable "floating" platform that can hold 5–10 lbs. The edge lip ensures your items stay securely on the shelf, while the folding design makes it a staple for college students in tiny dorm rooms. Please note: This product is not recommended for use with ultra-soft memory foam mattresses, as they may lack the necessary tension to hold the base firmly.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the “expert set-up” come with champagne and caviar?**
A: Perhaps a massuese as well. Seriously though, just email or call us if you have any questions.

**Q: I have a deep matures will this still work? my matures and box spring together are about 19in the mattress alone is a little over 10in.**
A: yea it slides between the mattress and box spring. It will still work but wont be level with your mattress top. Mine is not level either and works great for my phone and charger.

**Q: Mine just arrived with two small strips of black sandpaper. Does anyone know what these are for?**
A: Please go to the instructions page on the Urban Shelf website. Two 4" x 1" grip tape strips are included with any new stock sent to Amazon fulfillment centers after mid December. The grip tape strips will be included in all Urban Shelves moving forward, as once applied (to the BOTTOM flap, the part that goes between your mattress and box spring or bed frame) they increase stability/performance and prevent slide outs under load. They are located inside your shelf when you open up the flaps. If you want to use them, just peel the backing and stick as shown. We found the outer locations pictured on the site to be the most effective. Keep the one side flush with the hinge. Do NOT place the strips on the top shelf where your gadgets might lie as they are very aggressive and abrasive. Make sure to keep your shelf close to the headboard as well to decrease bouncing when moving around in bed. Supplied grip tape is made in Illinois USA and a staple among skateboard enthusiasts.

**Q: Will it hold a fan & small lamp?**
A: Likely no. Unless you have a island or bunk bed that help support the middle section of the shelf. It is really designed for small stuff like a phone and holding the charger cord,... And maybe one more small item.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality and cute, serves its purpose well.
*by on Reviewed in the United States August 1, 2015*

I don't have room on my side of the bed for a nightstand, but wanted somewhere to keep my cell phone and chap stick. (I have to have chap stick near me at all times.) This shelf is sturdy enough for my light purposes, although I wouldn't trust putting a drink on it, just because I would probably knock it off in my sleep. We have the pink one and the blue one and both have been perfect quality and we've had no issues with either.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Price-Benefit is somewhat lacking, but not bad!
*by on Reviewed in the United States September 5, 2014*

This holder is just GENIUS. It works great in small spaces. However, ding 1 star because the cable management holes are really lacking ... real easy to drop a phone charger even with the hook/loops used to hold them in place. But otherwise, super functional. Second ding is that in person, it does look a bit smaller than in pictures. If used on a queen size bed, it will look a bit on the tiny side. Give those design issues, if it were a bit cheaper, I'd give it all 5 stars.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Smart concept- but could use some improvement in the way it looks.
*by on Reviewed in the United States February 3, 2015*

This is a great idea, and a wonderful application of physics, but the product itself looks a little cheap. This is because the side where you rest your phone or whatever looks like it is supposed to be the bottom side, because there are little circles in the plastic from where the mold or whatever held it in place when made. It's nice that it has a lip around the edge to keep stuff from rolling off, and the notches do a good job of holding cords in place. It does fold up nice and flat, easy to store if you aren't using it. But once we started using it, we didn't want to remove it, and I was hoping it would be a little more aesthetically pleasing.Still, a great idea, love that it comes in different colors, and it does the job pretty well. Don't expect it to hold a heavy cup of coffee, or anything more than about half a pound (8 oz.) in weight, or it may tip.
