All you need in one box!

This kit has everything you could need in one box. It came very well packaged. This is going to make it very easy to teach my child to read. It helps with blending letter sounds, recognizing letter sounds and words, and recognize words. For $20, my child's education is worth it. The markers are juicy and not dry. The other side has a plain whiteboard for other activities such as drawing, tic tac toe, math practice, etc. Very well made in my opinion.

Simple and fun!!!

The puzzle pieces are colorful, sturdy, and engaging. They definitely help with sight words and sentence construction, making learning fun! The gradual difficulty increase is perfect for progressing through grades.I wish there were instructions included to know how to properly use the different colored pieces, but overall my son has enjoyed this fun, yet educational kit!

Excellent quality

I purchased this board to use in my 1st grade classroom and well as with my second grade son to practice sentence fluency. The board is strong quality and includes 2 dry erase markers with erasers. The pieces fit snugly together and are easy to use.

Good learning tool!

Our 6-year-old was doing good with his sight words, but we needed something to help with sentence structure. This set worked well by having the words and pictures on puzzle pieces. He likes the dry erase board because he can put the puzzle pieces together, then write the sentence, but especially likes drawing a picture at the bottom of the board. The pieces are of good quality and store nicely in the sturdy box. Definitely a good tool to build on the skills they learn in school.

Great the beginning readers

My 5 year old is starting to sound out words and these also double as sight words. Comes with everything shown and is good quality.

Lots of common words, and some puzzling choices

Here is a tool to help young writers with constructing a full sentence. I appreciate that the set includes many common words already written out, plus blank cards for words they left out. I like that the board begins with a section for joining the pre-written words together into a complete thought, followed by a space to write the sentence out for oneself, which is a different skill and important practice. Finally, at the bottom is a space to draw an illustration of the sentence, another way of recording one's thought, and tying it in to the words of the sentence. The set includes the tripartite dry erase board (which is double-sided, with a blank back), two dry erase markers (a black and a pink), and the puzzle pieces. These come in three types, namely, words or punctuation, drawings, and blank. In case it's helpful to know, here's a breakdown of the pieces:--Uppercase words for beginning a sentence: Who, What (2x), When, HowWhere, ThereThe, This, ThatDo, Does, CanIs, AreI, MyYou, Your__, His (no He. This must be a mistake. I got What twice, and no He.)She, HerIt, TheyAll other words are lowercase. You get a selection of verbs and helping verbs (mostly forms of 'to be' and 'to have') along with a few -ing verbs (talking, reading, running, playing, swimming, eating, drinking), but no adverbs. You get a very limited number of simple adjectives (long, short, tall, big, small, happy, sad), and a selection of pronouns, but no nouns. The set uses the picture pieces to supply these.--Pictures are mostly of concrete nouns. People and animals (father, mother, teacher, student, friend, doctor), animals (dog, cat), food and drinks (apple, banana, cake, rice, water, juice, tea), other objects (bed, table, book), and places (house, playground, USA).Others are more abstract, having to do with the concept of time and schedules (time, Sunday, Monday, March, July, summer, winter). You will also receive two conjunctions (and, or), three articles (a, an, the), several prepositions, a period and a question mark for punctuation, and eight blank pieces to fill in with your own words. The markers make a clear, clean line, and the built-in eraser on the cap of each is much more effective than I expected. I would say that the thin strip at the bottom of the board may be limiting when it comes to depicting various scenes, and it did not escape my notice that the top section is labeled not with the instruction 'Build,' but with the descriptor 'Built.' I truly don't understand how they chose some of the random words they decided to include as pictures (two days of the week and two specific months, for example, and USA isn't a common word in early sentence composition), but none of that is a crisis. Certainly, there are plenty of blank pieces to cover whatever they failed to include. One other odd thing you should know is that the words on the puzzle pieces are written in a slightly calligraphic script, which may throw your child off if they are only just learning to read and write. I would say that this is certainly an adequate set, but you may want to look into other sets as well, to get an idea of what else is out there and increase your chances of choosing the one that's right for your family or classroom.

Lots of fun and things to do!

This product comes in a box with 120 pieces, which includes:1) cards with words on them - including upper case words to begin a sentence, lower case words for the rest of the sentence, punctuation, and blank cards to write on. There are 8 blank puzzle cards, 28 photo word cards, and 84 sight word cards (breaks down as: 2 conjunctions, 2 punctuation, 7 adjectives, 9 prepositions, 4 articles, 22 pronouns, 23 verbs, 15 verbs/adverbs, and 28 nouns)2) one dry-erase board called, "Sight Word Sentence Builder" which has a section at the top called, "Built" with spaces for five cards, a section under that called, "Write" to write the sentence and practice handwriting, and a section at the bottom called, "Draw" to interpret that. This hits three different ways in which children process information, and is a great idea3) two dry-erase markers (one pink, one black)The cards and board are very sturdy. Unless very roughly handled they should be fine for general use. The cards are written with italic print, which I believe to have been a great decision due to the fact that it's sort of a "between" script for kids - between print and cursive. This helps them visually get ready for cursive, if they are going to study that. This kit was listed as K-2, ages 3+. My 1st grader (who reads well above grade level) easily read every card in the box, so I this appears to be a fair age range for this set. She really enjoyed playing with it as the three different ways to approach the sentence made it interesting for her.Overall highly recommend. This would be fantastic for homeschooling or just general sight word practice, and it's sturdy enough to likely last for more than one child's education.
