Excellent compact multi-band radio
Excellent product designed by a renown American Company. Compact size is fantastic for packing along with you to the front porch or campsite. Holds frequencies tightly without wondering. Wide frequency range. Tidy little package! Two AA batteries provide a nearly inexhaustible power source as I haven’t noted any drop in battery strength after many weeks of continuous use.

Powerful, wonderful reception. Small and portable.
I took this radio with me on a cruise around the world, and it performed wonderfully in every region of the world capturing radio station from all these 38 countriesIt even works much better using a dedicated antenna

Good choice for a travel radio
A solid choice for a travel radio. Great band coverage with good sensitivity across the board. The speaker sound quality is okay, but is outmatched by many radios of the same size. However, what the Skywave gives in return is excellent battery life using ubiquitous AA batteries, which is what sold me on this radio. The sound quality on headphones is great. It has solid build quality an includes nice touches. For example, the center key has a small dimple on it so that you can locate it by feel (not unlike the f an j keys on a keyboard). It comes with a decent travel pouch, an excellent user’s manual, which is often not the case with radios today. It is very intuitive radio to operate (always a good thing 😊). All in all, I am happy with this radio. Having said that, nothing is perfect. While the contrast on the display is good with the backlight off, that is not always the case when it is on. The backlight is very uneven and makes it difficult to read the under some lighting conditions. This is something that most radios do well and it’s inexplicable for a radio at this price point.

CCrane is the top name in small radios
I had one of these that worked for 20 years until it died, I think due to battery corrosion. It's a good price and gets good reception on Am/Fm. I was not able to get much on shortwave, but that's probably because I would need a decent antenna. I use this in the bathroom for the news in the morning, so apparently the moisture doesn't bother it. It's a great size if you want to take to a baseball game and listen to the play-by-play while you watch. It works with both a cord and batteries. So it's handy to have when the power goes out.

Everything great, except Aviation Band
Bought this radio as a gift for someone who is an aviation band enthusiast. AM, FM, and weather bands all worked great, with loud, clear audio. Aviation band, however, was completely nonfunctional. We checked all approach and takeoff frequencies next to two busy major airports. Nothing, only static. Tried adding a shortwave antenna, with no difference, only static across all frequencies. Had to return radio. C. Crain should test their radios before shipping. This is unacceptable for a radio costing almost $100.
