Date with Destiny: The Untold Story of United Flight 1175 and the Man Who Saved It Perfect Paperback – January 1, 2024

Wanted to read this after watching an incident report of this on YouTube. I thought this book was a good read and an inspiration to those wanting certain things in life. One thing I learned was some of the political strife and harsh uncertainties the young soon to be Captain would experience during his young life and beyond and how he rose above it and succeeded in the goals he set for himself. Some parts are pretty darn sad about political upheaval and turmoil in the Captains native country especially as how it related to his family but it all led to a resolve and efforts that amounted to what it took to be a winner. For the reviewer who focused on the proof reading errors, the only substantial error I noticed was on the last paragraph on page 119. I wasn't being nitpicky. Good book in my opinion. At that time, 380 passengers were very glad they had that crew piloting the aircraft. Sounds harrowing as hell.

Definitely fluffed out... much less interesting than Mentour Pilots recreation on Youtube.

The stories themselves were good, however, the proofreading could have been better. Very first page, one sentence was missing punctuation. Chapter 5 appears twice with the second chapter 5 being a misprint and should have been chapter 6 (the following chapter was correctly marked as chapter 7). On page 18, the reference to American 578 was incorrect, as it was American 587, not 578. Lastly, another sentence on page 112 is missing a space.Additionally, it would have been nice if the book was actually bug-free. Not really a good thing to be flipping a page and finding a bug crawling around all over the page. The rating would have been better were it not for these shortfalls.

Excellent book. I highly recommend it. Inspiring story about overcoming obstacles to achieve your dreams.
