Total length of the shorts (from waistband to hem) is 19 inches. Inseam is 7.5 inches. Hope this helps! This brand is the only brand my husband will wear!

is there a small, long pocket on one side for things like a comb or multitool?

Short answer is no. The tech pocket in its current configuration fits a smart phone perfectly. It could be sewn to accommodate either either a comb or multitool or both... or one of the other pockets could be modified to accommodate those items. Very comfortable shorts.
