Not a left handed violin

The picture shows a left handed violin if i would have know it was not a left handed one I would have picked one with a cool color… also comes with no instructions.

Great beginner choice.

I've had this for the better part of a month, most of that time was learning the basics of violin handling and tuning. Like others have mentioned, tuning is essential to getting the right sound whenever you practice, either learn via the internet or get someone to tune it for you. The bridge installation is somewhat easy, just follow the guidelines, and you should be good.Granted I'm still learning, I can make passable notes, I think it's fine for me to review the quality of the violin. Let's be honest the price point is the main draw here, bona fide beginner violins cost significantly more. Either you're somewhat interested in learning, or you think you know someone who might be and don't want to shell out the big bucks. That's me too and I can say this violin works as a compromise. The setup is the most involved part as mentioned earlier, the rest is down to practice. This comes with a case, bow, strings already attached, rosin, alongside the violin which is made of an acceptable wood. I'm no expert but it held up to my manhandling as I tuned/learned various notes.I can't say much about the rosin, I used it once before I broke my strings while tuning and bought new strings alongside some rosin.

Good sound for an inexpensive violin

I got this as a way to try out violin, and start learning. I play guitar and have an okay ear, and this seemed like a good instrument to learn next.Setting it up, presented some challenges, I have done a lot of minor luthier work on guitars, so I wasn't entirely in the dark, with the help of a few youtube videos. It ships strung, but with the bridge out. (this is wise, it would likely suffer damage otherwise.) That wasn't too challenging, but it's important to check the bridge doesn't tilt too far on initial tuning, is holding the strings centered over the neck, and is in the correct position on the body. For as inexpensive as the violin is, I was pleasantly surprised. It held it's tune in storage over night, that's a good sign.the biggest challenge: The included rosin, was quite difficult to get warm enough to start spreading. I poured hot water over it and used a lot of friction to get started rosining the bow.Despite the cheap plastic tailpiece's construction, the fine tuners do work quite well.Once it was all good to go, and tuned, it has a good warm tone, tons of sustain, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Great gift for beginners.

I got this Ceciliec 4/4 Violin Starter Kit for my 7 year old’s birthday since he’s recently developed an interest in music, and it was a big hit for him. The quality is very nice, the wood looks beautiful and well finished, making it a great choice for beginners.Just be aware that some work and adjustments are needed before it’s ready to play, but overall, it’s a fantastic violin to start playing.

I can't play the violin... yet.

I play the drums.I play guitar and bass.I play Mandolin and UkuleleI can play a little piano... a little.Heck, I can even play BAGPIPES.But I have never been able to play the violin, and I have tried on a few occasions. So this is it... I'm going for it! I ordered this, it arrived and you guessed it... I still can't play the Violin. So let's talk about this violin. At this price is it any good? Is it playable at all? Let's take a look. The instrument arrives in a pretty nice looking case. I have paid as much for a Ukulele case as this whole package sells for. That's a great bonus here. Inside that case there are TWO bows, a couple spare strings, TWO bridges, and the Violin itself. The Violin LOOKS really nice. The bridge is NOT installed and the slots for the strings are in need of being made deeper. It's not hard, if you're used to working on instruments. It could really ruin your day if your an absolute novice to stringed instruments. The wood made to construct this instrument is nothing special, but it is still decent wood... it's not garbage. The strings are not great, but they are passible. The bows are NOT pre charged with rosin, but a block of rosin is included. If you have never rosined a bow, this could prove to be frustrating.Anyway, I can't play the violin, I'm pretty good with stringed instruments, and I managed to get it up and running with a little bit of effort and a visit to you tube for some clarification as to how to get the tuning pegs work correctly. After getting it running, I handed it to a friend of mine that plays very well and said "PLAY THIS"And she played it. She scowled a little bit, complained about the bow, mentioned the tone was a little shrill, and the low-end was weak. Then I told her what it cost... She was surprised.I asked one question.... "Can a person learn to play the violin with this instrument"After some thought... she said it was possible. She said it needs a setup, which means to get everything adjusted properly. She said the bridge needed to be fitted to the top, and that will improve the tone, as will better strings, and the strings she suggested... well, they sell for more than this entire package.I think that anybody that has never played the violin would do well to take this to a teacher for setup and initial assembly, and while they are there they should take some lessons. If you're thinking about getting this for a child that's participating in a school music program, take a moment and consult the teacher before making this purchase. They can be very specific about what constitutes a student instrument and ease of playing is paramount in making that decision.I'm looking forward to learning to play this thing, and I do know that this instrument will present me with some challenges. I have already adjusted the fitment of the bridge to the sound board by watching a couple of youtube videos and it definitely improved the tone... I've yet to change the strings. To adult players... don't be afraid to try something new. If you're handy, this may very well work for you. Don't be afraid to get yourself a teacher and ask what instrument they recommend if you lack the skills to tinker with your instrument.
