The Rain Bird CPVBSTDEXT is a 6" Extension Box for sprinkler valve systems that is designed to extend the height of specified valve boxes an additional 6". This box does not have holes cut for sprinkler water lines as it is designed as an extension.Thus, the first image in the description is not what this item is; the extension is the top part of the first description image. The "19" High" in the description is wrong as this is 6" high (look at the item dimensions "Item dimensions L x W x H --19 x 13.5 x 7.2 inches"). These items in the description should be fixed to avoid confusion and returns. (Reduction of 1 star for the description confusion.)Since I've worked with sprinkler boxes in the past, I knew what I was expecting. This is being used to extend another box that was already in the ground in an area where the ground level is being raised.

I have a house build in the1950s and ran over a metal cap with my lawn mower last fall. Inside the cap was a couple of wires with wire nuts on the end. I don't have sprinkler irrigation system and was confused on what they were. I called the water company and they said it wasn't theirs. I called the gas and electric companies and they both said they had no clue what it was for. I'm guessing it may have gone to an electric street lamp but is no longer being used. I dug a hole lower than the rest of my lawn and used this cover to keep those wires concealed until I figure out a long-term solution.

Not every install of a valve box requires an extension. Where I live, the frost line is about usually 12 inches, however, on rare occasion we get a cold snap that extends the the depth 6 inches. This extension box allows me to do so. It's well built. Fits on the Rain Bird CPVBSTD valve box as it's meant to (be sure you use the right extension with the right valve box). It's also designed as a shallow valve box that can be used on its own if you can use a shallow box where you live. Well priced. Well built.
