Freight Train Board Book: A Caldecott Honor Award Winner (Caldecott Collection)

I rode freight trains… so I loved reading this children’s story to my daughter, Iris, when she was little. It’s a short, easy read for grownups, educational, and the colorful illustrations captivate the little pre-readers.

This book was on a list for some home teaching I was doing. I am so happy it was! Both toddler boys love it and can easily flip through the colors now. My youngest is obsessed with trains so it made it even better. Would recommend for any toddler parenting wanting their kids to learn colors

This is such a fun book to read aloud with drama! I got it for my grandson at 3 years old because it had been a favorite of his dad's when he was four years old. It's a combination of easy words (colors) and vocabulary that kids this age are usually unfamiliar with (names of the types of train cars.) That might be why neither kid got bored quickly with it.

Gorgeous, colorful illustrations - with wording and drawings that suggest the movement of a train. Love this one!

I give this as a shower gift to all my friends. The few words per page makes it an easy read for the smallest children. Each train car is a different color so you can easily use it to teach your toddler. With an old classic like this, I won’t be giving a gift that needs to be returned

My 3 year old son loves trains and loves this book. He had the paperback version which is approx. 7" x 10" so when he and his brother ripped it apart I thought I would get him the board book. I received it and was disappointed that it was incredibly small!! My son looked at it at first and thought the same thing....but he loves reading it just the same. So since he was happy with it but I wasn't...it gets 4 stars.

A few words...but such magic they hold! My son absolutely love this book!

My son loved this as a child, and wanted it for his own son (two years old). He loves trains at the moment, and It has immediately become a favourite. He is also learning the colours. Simple and brilliant. Be aware that it is basically an American book, and the original has slightly different terminology. I bought that version by mistake at first.
