I bought this reel to review. I used it this weekend on pier fishing for mackerel, the fishing was good. Until when you need every equipment to be reliable when the "mack attack" comes! This reel failed! during the initial burst of mack attack! The spool had an extra piece underneath the spool that is connected to nothing this caused my line to keep on getting inside the spool gear snagging my line causing a delay on getting back and cast the line again during the mack attack. The line snag inside the gear kept on going until I am tired of fixing it and just get another rod and reel. This reel is NOT RECOMMENDED - Seller please do not offer to provide a replacement just to get five star rating as it will go to a garbage. Thanks

I usually look for higher end used fishing gear, but needed an extra reel. I like reels with the Baitrunner feature, and I'm usually doing deep ocean rockfish, bonita, yellowtail, etc... Tried this one, and was very impressed. It's not perfect, but it's as good as anything else I use. It's smooth, seems to do the job and feels nice. I ended up buying a second one, and will keep trying to use them for my main spinning setups. I'm very happy so far. We will see how long they last on salt water use.---UPDATE---After just one use, now the reverse lock lever doesn't work and the Baitrunner clutch lever does not disengage when you reel it. Not sure what's up with them, but so far, if this is what happens to them normally, I'll be back here leaving a worse review.I've seen other reviews mention that support structure piece under the spool that some have complained their line gets wrapped around and caught under the gears. I have also notice that this could happen, but it seems only an issue if you have brand new line on the reel that has no flex or memory and wants to fall off the reel anyway. And as long as you keep a little tension on everything, it will never be a problem. Like most fishing gear, if used properly, it usually works properly. Sometimes it takes a little practice.I'm way more concerned about the basic levers and locks that aren't working after just one use though.

Sougayilang 5000, bait runner 12+1 BBThis reel appears to have been thoughtfully designed but quality material appears to be somewhat lacking.Don't forget that this is a budget reel with only one spool. Just the same here is what I found.There is noticeable flex in the shaft and foot that attaches to the rod.I observed that there is additional play in the handle main gear area enough for me to disassemble it.Though I found no loose parts I found sloppy tolerances that lent itself to the loose feeling.This aids in the reel dealing with dirt and sand, but not with bringing in a fish or instilling thoughts of confidence in equipment.Another thing I found was what I didn't find ... a boat load of ball bearings.When I took it apart there was a lack of the ball bearings.The ball bearings that I did find were un-shielded and not sealed... bad for salt water fishing.I packed the exposed bearings with marine grease reassembled the reel, small springs and all, and went out fishing.The reel did its job and survived it's first day of fishing.It cast, and retrieved well, all the while with flexing and less than a solid feel.I will hope to see it fish for many days ... but I have a seed of doubt

Used it for the season and couldn't be happier! Absolutely one of the best bang for the bucks out there in a Baitfeeder reel! I landed so many big catfish this year on this reel! Channels, Whites, and even Flatties! All river fishing. Baitfeeder system works fantastic! Drag system is amazing. Reel casts like a dream with 65lb Power Pro Braid! Smooth retrieval! Pretty fast too. I've abused it this past year and it's holding up great! I will most likely be picking up a few more in different sizes honestly!

I bought this reel a few years ago after my brother bought some Penn live liner reels, I always love to find a cheaper product that is just as good if not better than what he buy's and this reel lived up to my hopes. The reel felt great out of the box and was very smooth. We took our reels out in the bays around Aransas pass and this reel paid for itself in no time, I cleaned up with over 10 large gafftop cats and a 3 ft bonnethead shark over the first few hours of using the bait feeding system.I haven't had much free time to get out on the water recently, but it still functions like the day I got it and I HIGHLY recommend this reel.

Initially I was thinking that this looked like a decent reel for the price especially since it is a baitrunner. Unfortunately the rear drag control switch broke apart the first time out. I tried to fix it by attaching a piece to the shaft. We will see if it works good enough to keep. It does seem to reel relatively smoothly and I would be satisfied if the plastic rear drag handle did not snap completely off.

Ive bought three of these none have had any problems, and caught some good catfish on them. If u want a well made "cheaper" reel, give this one a shot.
