Great Solution. Good Videos.
I had a contractor install a pocket door frame. He got a wooden pre-made frame kit from 84 Lumber. I checked the price and it is about $150 at Home Depot. During the initial quoting of my project (much more than just the door, the contractor convinced me to go with a 36" door. This turned out to be too big. It's my fault because I agreed. The job involved an exterior wall and 2 interior walls. The interior was not to be finished (open framing). The pocket door frame was installed (no door yet) and after looking at it for a while I decided it was too big. I decided to fix this myself. I removed the 36" door frame. I narrowed the wall framing to 30".I could buy another wood frame (I couldn't return the original). I didn't want to pay the contractor to do my change. His work was good, but he ended up pricey.I researched solutions and came upon this frame. It comes as a universal kit (trim it to width) or as in this case already the 30" size I wanted. I could have save about $40 if i used the universal and cut it myself. But having never installed a pocket door before, I didn't want to risk a mistake. If I were to do another, I would use the kit. This product is fantastic. It is far superior to the wooden frame. It is easy to install and level. It includes a Soft Open and Close feature that the wooden frame kit did not have. The soft open and close works perfectly. It comes unassembled, and was shipped by a parcel carrier. It wasn't bulky like the wooden frame which would not fit in my car. This frame kit does fit in the car.I gave it 4 stars for installation because it is a bit difficult if you don't have some carpentry skills and experience with doors. I was never a professional contractor. My skills are good, however there are trade skill that I never learned. The online videos are fantastic. After having completed the installation, I would find it very easy to install next time. If you are a carpenter, it get 5 stars for installation. This is a 5 star product. Great quality. Great instructions (online videos). It took me a bit longer to do this (I'm approaching 70). But I did complete it and am very happy with it.At first I questioned the value. The differential was over 25% more expensive than wooden. However further research on the soft open/close feature convince me that this is a fair price and a great value for what I received. I am a happy customer.

Buy with confidence heavy duty framing for a pocket door
Wonderful, durable, heavy duty that works really well with a 32 solid wood door.

Softclose and open is so nice.
The kit set up is nice, instructions not so much. I like the set up, but do not like the door stabilizers at the bottom. They work but do not look nice.

Wonderful door hardware, poor instructions
The instructions are adequate for the most part, but there's one glaring error that I'll warn you about - the instructions state to frame your header 2x the door width plus 1". The picture even shows an example door opening, with the header framed in between king studs, resting on jack studs. Perfect. Turns out that the measurement they give is to be used for the rough opening width, not the header size - which means that following the instructions you end up with an opening 3" too small. If I'd known in advance I would've done things differently and the changes I had to make when i discovered the problem now mean some of the finishes won't be quite perfect in that room...annoying to say the least. With the door now in, though, it slides smoothly and the soft open/close is absolutely wonderful. I'll probably be buying these again for future projects, and will be very happy as long as I remember to trust my gut more than the instructions.

High quality product, great value
Looked around for a well made pocket door frame and came across this. Easy install especially for a 36” door, no cutting needed. Instructions aren’t great but some videos out there help with the install. Overall happy with the quality of the product

Great product, lousy seller
I purchased 2 of these pocket door frames. One was complete but the other one, as others have noted, came without some parts. I contacted the seller and their solution was for me to contact Johnson Hardware and if there was any cost, they would reimburse me. Johnson Hardware was great - they quickly sent out the pieces without cost. However, in my opinion, it should have been the seller doing the leg work, not me.Beyond that, the frame was easy to install, the rollers are smooth, the soft-close works great. I would not hesitate to use this frame again; however, next time I will buy it direct from Johnson Hardware!

Good pocket door kit when it works
I ordered 2 pocket door kits for my bathroom. Kits arrived (on different days). During my process, I realized I probably only needed 1 unit and was going to use a barn door unit for 2nd door, therefore needing a return. Lo and behold, while trying to install the pocket door, the contractor realized that the pocket door rail was not working correctly and was stuck. He tried to get the mechanism released for about an hour and quit. He opened the 2nd unit and that one worked fine. The working unit works like a charm. The door slides well. It slides well, soft close is nice. He did buy a different glide for the bottom of door as he said the one that came with unit isn’t very good. He said installation was easy once he had a working product. The other one I have is junk. Trying really hard to get a credit from Seller now but it’s a hassle. So my only caution is that while the unit is very good, if you have any issue with it, it can entirely derail your construction project timeline. Also, getting refunds for defective item seems to be an issue. While it’s a good sturdy unit, not sure if buying something from local hardware or big box retailer would have been just as good and easier to exchange if something is wrong. The non operating unit, is not a good experience and has been more stressful than needs to be.PS ordered this in May and here it is July and still working on getting a credit for a unit
