Hope this helps someone thinking about purchasing. I have used paper cutters for many years. It cuts easily, it's accurate, and it is very sturdy. But be carful, the blade is sharp. That said, this cutter should not be used by children. The guard limits it to 20-25 pages at a time. The accuracy of the back edge is straight. Hope this helps.

I scrapbook a lot and this is the smartest supply I ever bought!! I buy scrapbook paper in paper packs. When you do this the paper is larger the 12x12 so you have to trim each sheet. Not anymore!! The paper cutter is great, you can cut up to 30 sheets at a time depending on weight of the paper, and the cuts are clean and even. I LOVE THIS CUTTER!! It is light weight and easy to use and store. I would recommend this cutter to anyone who scrapbooks or a teacher who wants a quality and lightweight cutter for their classroom.

Good sturdy board and smooth cutting, gets the job done

Solid cutter, unlike the other gets the job done, but the safety bar makes it hard to see where the cut will be, so use I use a finger...well so much for safety.

Nice cutter

While this is an extremely well engineered paper trimmer, and the actual trimmer performs extremely well, the product quality assurance leaves much to be desired. From an engineering standpoint, this is a fantastic tool. It cuts easily and well. While the base and weight of the base and blade are very lightweight, the trimmer is extremely stable and does not move around during use. From this standpoint, I would readily give the product a full five stars.HOWEVER, in a nutshell, no indicator or guide on the board can be trusted due to the significant failure of product quality assurance at the manufacturing plant. For anything that one does rely on the guides for, one ends up with distinctive trapezoids. The top of the 4" vertical rule line is at 4 3/32" (first photograph), while the bottom of the 4" vertical rule line is at 3 27/32" (second photograph), for a difference of 1/4" over 12" on the vertical axis. The horizontal rule is located at 1 1/64" from the top guide at the 12" vertical rule (third photograph), while the horizontal rule is located at 63/64" at the 2" vertical rule, for a difference of 1/32" in 10". This was also confirmed by measuring the cut paper after trimming.The crux of the problem is that the baseboards are not anchored properly throughout the cutting and milling processes at the factory, along with the failure of product quality assurance to properly check each trimmer before shipment. I will admit that I could rectify the problems by adding my own top guideline along with printing a proper alignment mat -- but that is also what I thought I was paying for with this trimmer.

I like clean, accurate, and repeatable cuts. I'm unable to get that with this cutter. Here's why:The green "guard' just gets in the way, making it difficult to line things up. There isn't an easy, accurate way to position and hold the paper in place while cutting. The top rail is rounded just enough that using it as a guide isn't working for me. There is no back stop or square. The markings printed on the board seem purely for aesthetics and have nothing to do with actual measuring or squareness. It's sharp for sure, beyond that, this cutter isn't working out for me.

Honestly this worked well. It cut great and was nice and straight. The quality was wonderful I returned it only because I needed something bigger. I would recommend this to anyone. It was nice and heavy duty. I wanted to use it for bookbinding but I needed to be able to cut like 500pages and this was not cut out for that. It was purely be not knowing about my new hobby enough that let me to purchase the wrong item for my needs.
